Brian Etheredge and Chris Kulis

Executive Chef Brian Etheredge, mastermind behind award-winning Capische? and now IL Teatro, is an alumnus of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). After leaving the CIA, his professional training continued at several top restaurants in New York and Florida before coming to Maui in 1998. After more than three years at the Grand Wailea, Brian opened the original Capische? in Ma’alaea. In 2002 Brian took over ownership of Capische? and relocated the restaurant to its current location at the Hotel Wailea. The restaurant has received numerous accolades for its exquisite food, a world-class wine list and superb service. IL Teatro represents Brian’s next endeavor to offer a unique fine dining experience.

IL Teatro also features Chef Chris Kulis who recently joined the Capische? team. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 2003, Chris traveled widely in the United States and Europe, further cultivating his passion for food and wine. He then spent three years in Napa Valley, California at Thomas Keller’s renowned Bouchon restaurant. After relocating to Maui, Chris found Capische? where he and Chef Brian Etheredge share a passion for quality, creativity and boldness in the culinary arts.
